SUNFLOWERS

Just because we can and because we are trying to make a difference with finding uses to recycle and
reuse paper.  We made our own biodegradable pots out of old newspaper for our sunflower seeds to live in.
When the time is right we will take them home and plant them.  It will make
our gardens look very pretty and it will let the bees come into the garden
as well.  Little things we do to make our environments
more attractive to bees will make a difference.

When we plant out our sunflower seedlings we dont even have to take the plant out of the pot.  We will plant the pot as well as the newspaper will break down and feed the soil and the plant.

Last week in Team Wha we found another way of recycling polystyrene.  We used something called acetone - nail polish remover and the polystyrene just totally dissolved into the goo you see below.  We then tried to make little animals and things so we could repurpose the plastic.  We were all amazed not only did we recycle we also did a bit of science.

Sunday 6 November 2016

We have been learning all about Lauren Child and the different books she has written.  We have discovered that there are 45 Charlie and Lola books. WOW!  She has written many others and we cant decide which ones we like the best.  We also found out that she has a daughter Tuesday and just loves everything about being a child.
Here are some of our own pictures using that pesky rat as a model.  We think they turned out great.

Tuakana Teina Time

Our lovely big buddies came visiting today and we read our reading books to them and then we had fun creating books with book creator on the ipads.  Some very interesting outcomes.  Thanks Room 14 we had the best time with you and we learnt lots with your wonderful questioning skills.

Hola (oh la) Hello from Mexico

Team Wha have been doing some research about different countries involved in the Olympic Games.  Today is Mexico.

We learnt that Mexico is in the North American continent.

The Mexico has a population of 122.3 Million people.

The leader of Mexico is Enrique Pena Nieto.

Its main industries are food and beverages, tobacco, chemicals, iron and steel, petroleum, clothing, motor vehicles, and tourism. It is a major exporter of silver, fruits, vegetables, coffee, cotton, oil and oil products. WOW!!!
We learnt that working together is not always easy but we never gave up and we learnt heaps.
 ADIOS (goodbye).

Harold and Ann and the Life Ed caravan

Life Education with Ann and Harold

Team Wha visited the Life Education trailer today and learnt all about what our bodies need to be happy and healthy.

We were on our very best behaviour and showed Ann 5 constantly throughout our visit.

Harold was a bit naughty and wandered off before we got there and Ann had to tell him how to get back to the trailer so he could come and visit us.

Our bodies need, water, food, cleaning, exercise, love, shelter, sleep and oxygen so that we are able to grow our bodies into big bodies.
We get to go back next Monday and see them both.  We can not wait.

Welcome Back to Term 3

We have all had a very restful break and are very happy to be back and looking forward to new learning.  We started with a new game and its all about asking questions.  This is a game called Headbands and we just love it.

As our topic is all about the Olympic Games we have started to learn about the different countries that are taking part in the Games and do some different activities from these countries.   The first country we are focusing on is Australia and we have started to produce some wonderful aboriginal art.

We have learnt that there are 204 different countries involved in the games.  We know that the Olympic rings symbolise the 5 continents of the world. We have also learnt about what makes an olympic champion and we were very surprised how close they were to the Mahora School values.
